Turtle rescue!

Gabe wanted to dress up as a turtle this year for Halloween. I mean, who wouldn't want to wear a green onesie, green pants, and a green paper plate taped to their front and back? It took some modifications- (good thing we had three Halloween events to attend) but his costume turned out intelligible.  (is that right word? meaning- you could tell what it was).

done for the day.  Yes, Gabe shared his spoils with us :)

To legitimately carry Gabriel everywhere Bjorn and I dressed up as turtle-rescuing-Hawaiian-snorkelers.  Surprisingly, the outfits were fairly comfortable and not too hot or cold. We had a great time at our ward carnival, a friends family party, and the ward trunk-r-treat.  Actually,  by the trunk-r-treat Gabe was done being a turtle.  (see attached photos).  This was the first trunk-r-treat I had ever attended.  And I can't say I'm a big fan**.  The cars are not only lined up.... they're practically touching! You barely have to walk one step to be handed yet another piece of candy.  Where's the adventure of ringing doorbells, walking in the dark, and learning to say trick-r-treat to strangers.  And then the bravery pays off with a load of candy.  I remember having to EARN that candy.   Kids these days have it too easy.

** disclaimer  yes, I understand about safety..... and concerns for crazy people....and whatever else may be out there. Yes, I get it.

Traditions of October

1.  Pumpkin carving... self explanatory

Bjorn's pumpkin- by far the coolest
2.  Pumpkin cookies!
Sugar cookies cut out to look like pumpkins with orange frosting and candy corns.  This is a family tradition for the Murray's dating back three generations.  The key ingredient is the candy corn faces.  Years back all the faces looked the same but as time went on it became the cool thing to make your face is as different as possible something we now pride ourselves on.  Our cookie making event this year was a 25 person ordeal at Sunday dinner club.  I suddenly did not get any pictures.  However- here is Gabriel helping us find the right pumpkin cookie-cutter.

3. Gardner Village.  Okay, so I actually have only been here once before, but why not make it a tradition?  The witch fest was a great girls day out.  Well three girls and their five kids- we definitely are numbered.  And we love it.

4.  Warren Miller.  The epic ski movie has been a tradition ever since we were married.    We go every October.  Usually in Park City.   We make a "staycation" out of it- enjoying a nice dinner in Park City Main Street.   It was difficult to include Gabriel in this one.  But we did it.  Gabe did great at  dinner!  But not so much during the show.   Next year I'm opting for baby-sitting swapping.

Gabe and his favorite soon-to-be missionary!

Gabriel liked the corn maze, as long as we kept moving!  He was a trooper! I  love this "sleepy wrap" a friend let me borrow.  It distributes his weight and makes it way easy to carry him hands free.

2 months!

I got this cute binki on clearance.... Gabe doesn't actually take it- but after 5 attempts he kept it in just long enough for a picture. you can see my hand had just barely let go!
